Why Give Through The Kitsap Community Foundation (KCF)

We make your charitable giving simple.

In planning your legacy, you may have already chosen a favorite non-profit, scholarship, or an important cause you wish to support.

Or you may be considering an endowed donor-advised fund that will allow you, your children and grandchildren to make charitable decisions in the future.

Possibly, you're not sure if you want to choose a particular beneficiary for your support.

For that matter, perhaps you are wondering about the tax benefits of various types of gifts, such as your will, IRA, or life insurance.

You've come to the right place for answers!

As a non-profit created to encourage philanthropy in Kitsap County, KCF can help you make decisions about your charitable legacy. We can explore options with you, your attorney, accountant and/or financial advisor to achieve your goals. We do not charge fees for this service.

The interests and needs of our donors are as diverse as the causes they support. They all have a common goal; however, KCF donors want to make a difference by contributing to causes that matter to improve the quality of life in our community. Whether your gift is a single contribution in memory/honor of a friend or loved one, or you are establishing a new fund, we want to make your experience rewarding and easy.

You can get started today. Contact Kol Medina, President & CEO of KCF by phone 360.698.3622 or by email at , to start planning your legacy. And take a minute now to read about others who have left charitable legacies through the Kitsap Community Foundation.

Giving Made Easy

We make giving easy and effective, accepting a wide variety of assets and providing donors a number of charitable options. You can contribute cash, appreciated stocks, or other marketable assets. You may establish a fund in your name or in the name of a loved one. In most cases, your gift qualifies for the maximum tax deduction allowed by law.

Local Expertise

Our staff and board have an in-depth understanding of the issues, opportunities, and resources that shape our community. We monitor all areas of community need — including human services, education, the environment, healthcare, the arts, and economic development. We can help you learn more about local organizations and programs that make a difference in areas you care about most.

Community Leadership

We invest for the long term and bring people and organizations together, convening diverse voices to address local issues and opportunities. Our business is building community.

When you make a gift to KCF, you have the unique ability to do good now, and forever, by contributing to or creating an endowed fund. The goal of KCF is building endowments to secure the future of Kitsap County. Endowed funds are created so the original gift remains intact and are invested to grow in value. Each year, a portion of the earnings can be granted to public charities.

The following chart illustrating the "Power of Endowment" is based on an endowed fund established with $10,000.

Note: Illustration assumes an 7% average annual return, 4% average grants payout and 2% for administrative contribution. Actual results may be different.

Similar to fees, administrative contributions support the work of sustaining community philanthropy through KCF. They help pay for investment management, community needs analysis, donor communications, professional advisor support, and grant making — essential services for supporting philanthropy in Kitsap County.
